Last month, the Precision Hydro Excavation team proudly took part in the official induction for the new runway works at Melbourne Airport — a major infrastructure project that highlights both the scale of development in our region and the responsibility we share as civil contractors.
As part of the induction, our operators participated in several key briefings focused on safety, environmental compliance, and site-specific procedures. But perhaps most meaningfully, they were also invited to engage in a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) session delivered by elders of the Wurundjeri community — the traditional custodians of the land on which this runway is being built.
Learning from the Wurundjeri: Preserving Our Shared Heritage
The RAP session provided a unique opportunity for our operators to hear firsthand about:
- The cultural significance of the land
- Artifacts and sacred sites that may be present during excavation works
- How to recognise, respect, and report findings in line with heritage preservation protocols
We were honoured to be part of this session. It was not only informative but deeply grounding — reinforcing the idea that civil works don’t just shape the future, they must also respect the past.
