Electrical Conduit Trenching at Forest Hill School, Victoria

During the school holidays, Precision Hydro took on a crucial infrastructure upgrade for a school in Forest Hill, Victoria. The task was straightforward: trench 40 metres to install new electrical conduits and complete the work before the school reopened. The deadline was strict, and any delay would have disrupted the return of students and staff.

From the beginning, the site presented some real challenges. Underground, we encountered a maze of high voltage power lines, stormwater drains, water mains, and thick tree roots. Navigating these obstacles required more than just technical expertise. It called for flexibility, quick thinking, and careful planning to avoid any costly or dangerous mistakes.

To get the job done safely and efficiently, we brought in our 10,500-litre Non-Destructive Digging (NDD) unit. Our hydro excavation equipment allowed us to trench with precision, working around sensitive underground assets without causing damage.

As the project progressed, we discovered even more underground services than we had anticipated. Instead of letting this slow us down, we quickly brought in a second NDD truck to keep the project moving and the timeline on track.

Clear communication was essential throughout the job. We kept the client updated at every stage, making sure everyone was informed and that safety remained our top priority. By bringing in extra resources at short notice and working closely with the client, we were able to overcome the site’s complexities.

In the end, we delivered exactly what was needed. The trenching was finished on time, the electrical conduits were installed, and the site was restored before the school reopened. The client was especially pleased with our responsiveness, professionalism, and commitment to safety and quality.

This project showcases what we do best at Precision Hydro. By combining the right technology with hands on project management and open communication, we delivered a successful result under pressure. We adapt quickly, maintain high standards, and complete even the most complex jobs on time.
